Columbia Sportswear’s Digital Technology (CDT) group enables an IT infrastructure and applications across four global brands, a global supply chain, and 500+ geographically dispersed stores. These teams support in-store, mobile, and data platforms to enhance customer interface and service in an ever-evolving industry.
The Technical Lead designs, develops, tests, deploys, monitors, and supports software solutions. This role ensures quality, security, privacy, reliability, availability, maintainability, scalability, performance, compatibility and integration of solutions throughout. This person advances the team's technical foundation to deliver modern, simple, and secure solutions, and elevate engineering skills within the squad. The role adopts DevOps practices to improve efficiency and confidence of software delivery. This role partners with Architects, Product Managers, and Agile Leaders to implement and refine technical architectural designs in alignment with enterprise standards, and to deliver software in an agile way with continuous improvement in mind.
You’ll work within a squad responsible for the technical landscape for managing and optimizing the flow of digital assets including product images, videos, CADs and other media through the entire lifecycle – from creation and production to management and distribution.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Development & Architecture
• Design & Development:
o Lead the architecture, design and development of scalable and efficient solutions for managing the lifecycle of digital assets (product images, videos, CAD, etc.) from creation through distribution.
o Provide guidance on API architecture, design decisions, and implementation strategies. Design, Develop and maintain APIs that enable the integration of assets into multiple consumption platforms with a focus on performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Digital Asset Management:
o Lead the architecture and maintenance of a robust Digital Asset Management system to store, organize and tag assets efficiently.
o Ensure the DAM system is optimized for easy search, retrieval, and version control of assets, with a focus on scalability and performance.
o Work closely with other technical teams to integrate DAM system with other internal tools and platforms, such as content management systems, ecommerce systems and marketing automation tools.
• AI & Innovation in Content Creation:
o Lead initiatives to integrate AI/GenAI technologies into content creation and management workflows, such as automated asset tagging, AI-driven optimization of asset production, etc.
o Stay ahead of industry trends, exploring and piloting new AI tools that can improve efficiency in content creation and management.
• Reporting and Analytics:
o Build and maintain reporting and analytics dashboards that provide insights into asset creation velocity, usage and lifecycle.
o Use data driven insights to optimize workflows and identify areas for improvements and innovation.
• Quality and Performance:
o Define and uphold code quality standards; automate testing to drive consistency and reliability. Focus on application uptime, scalability, and performance optimizations.
• Observability:
o Implement robust monitoring for component health, availability, and performance. Partner with other squads to diagnose issues and proactively identify bottlenecks and areas of inefficiency.
Technical Leadership
• Best Practice Definition: Determine and evangelize standards and practices to maximize integrity, stability, and performance at all steps in the software development lifecycle.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Align with architects, product managers, and agile leads on design patterns and standards. Work with peer squads to ensure technical consistency and integration across our ecosystem.
• Backlog & Roadmap Management: Contribute to the squad’s backlog, prioritizing technical debt, performance enhancements, and modernization initiatives. Help refine and break down epics into achievable deliverables.
Team Development & Mentorship
• Mentorship: Guide and upskill junior and senior engineers on the squad, sharing best practices and fostering skill development.

YOU HAVE
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing responsibility and leadership
• Programming language - .Net/C#. Cloud platform: Azure
• Expertise in DAM systems, workflows, content distribution pipelines and understating of content supply chain ecosystem.
• Proficiency in other programming languages such as JavaScript/Typescript or Python is desired.
• Extensive experience designing, building and maintaining APIs (REST, GraphQL) and back-end systems.
• Expertise working with AI and Generative AI technologies, LLMs (like GPT)
• Hands-on experience with Azure as a platform for application deployment.
• Experience implementing and scaling web services and functions in Azure
• Strong grasp of asynchronous service-bus messaging paradigms in Azure
• Skilled in DevOps practices and integrating CI/CD pipelines for cloud resource delivery projects to automate testing, building, and deployment
• Experience setting up monitoring and observability tools for backend applications to ensure uptime and performance
