JOB DETAIL

  • MQ Administration:
    • Manage and maintain AS400 MQ environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
    • Monitor MQ queues, channels, and applications for performance and availability.
    • Implement security measures to protect MQ systems from unauthorized access.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backup and recovery, patching, and upgrades.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Diagnose and resolve MQ-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
    • Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and address root causes of MQ failures.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support to MQ users and applications.
    • Document and share knowledge with team members to improve efficiency and problem-solving capabilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of AS400 MQ:
    • Strong understanding of MQ concepts, components, and administration tasks.
    • Experience with MQ messaging protocols (MQSC, MQI, WebSphere MQ) and message formats.
    • Familiarity with MQ clustering and high availability solutions.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for automation and task management.
    • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Tivoli Performance Analyzer, IBM Health Checker) for MQ environments.
    • Knowledge of IBM i operating system and its integration with MQ.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills:
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex MQ issues and identify root causes.
    • Strong analytical skills to analyze MQ performance data and optimize system configurations.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills:
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Customer service orientation:
    • Commitment to providing excellent technical support to MQ users and applications.
