- MQ Administration:
- Manage and maintain AS400 MQ environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor MQ queues, channels, and applications for performance and availability.
- Implement security measures to protect MQ systems from unauthorized access.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backup and recovery, patching, and upgrades.
- Problem Solving:
- Diagnose and resolve MQ-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and address root causes of MQ failures.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to MQ users and applications.
- Document and share knowledge with team members to improve efficiency and problem-solving capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of AS400 MQ:
- Strong understanding of MQ concepts, components, and administration tasks.
- Experience with MQ messaging protocols (MQSC, MQI, WebSphere MQ) and message formats.
- Familiarity with MQ clustering and high availability solutions.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for automation and task management.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Tivoli Performance Analyzer, IBM Health Checker) for MQ environments.
- Knowledge of IBM i operating system and its integration with MQ.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot complex MQ issues and identify root causes.
