JOB DETAIL

It is crucial for the candidate to have experience with Ellucian Banner and some knowledge of the Higher Ed domain.
Critical skills required:
SQL: Advanced-level data querying (DML) skills, mainly working with Oracle.
DAX: Advanced-level DAX expertise.
Power BI Semantic Model Development: Including a solid understanding of dimensional modeling.
Azure Data Factory: For data movement and transformation.
Python: For developing Azure Function Apps.
Experience with Data Ingestion: Via APIs and programmatically.

Azure Data Analytics Focus:
Azure Data Factory: Handling data movement and transformation shows that this role includes working with large datasets, orchestrating workflows, and building ETL pipelines—key Azure analytics functions.
Azure Function Apps with Python: This indicates that the role requires custom data processing and integration within the Azure ecosystem, linking Azure services and data processing pipelines, which is a core Azure Data Analytics responsibility.
Data Ingestion via APIs: Programmatically handling data ingestion is another critical aspect of data engineering and analytics within Azure, which goes beyond just BI.
Domain Knowledge:
Experience with Ellucian Banner and Higher Education indicates a specific application of both BI and Azure Data Analytics skills within the education sector, where understanding both the data and how to analyze and visualize it is crucial.
BI Focus:
Power BI Semantic Model Development and Advanced DAX: These are core BI responsibilities, requiring the candidate to create interactive reports, dashboards, and meaningful insights from data. Advanced-level DAX and semantic model development suggest that a significant part of the role involves BI report creation, optimization, and delivering insights.
SQL (especially querying Oracle): SQL is heavily used in BI for retrieving and manipulating data, which is essential for generating Power BI reports.
