-          Middleware/network

-          How do they facilitate the IT value for their customers

-          Sr. CSE will provide oversight and the contract CSE will be able to execute (work with the team in the weeds)

-          Small to medium projects

-          Company uses Jira but this group doesn’t as much

-          The devs manage a lot of their own work/tasks

-          Work with the team, do work break down, work with the plan to manage it, then make sure everyone’s doing it

Microsoft shop mostly

 

Profile

-          They are not over the top Project Managers (that’s for the PMO specifically)

o   Need to understand risk management and balanced with project management

o   Typically better to come not from a PMO

-          Came from infrastructure

o   can talk the talk and hold engineers accountable

o   cloud is good but they are not there yet, so can be flexible

-          Loves certifications – PMP is good

-          Ideal candidate likely have VMWare, Citrix, end point stuff…then began running projects

o   Or maybe a network engineer with servers before management projects

o   Can also be a pure PM but make sure they aren’t too specialist

-          Strong Excel + PowerPoint

-          Understanding of Microsoft Project

-          They use confluence – nice to have

-          Nice to have understanding of risk

-          Need strong comm skills

o   Can represent to all levels of stakeholders

-          3+ years PM experience

 

Types of projects:

 

-          Secure Access Anywhere – they just rolled up a LAN as a pre-req

o   They need to address security components in email

-          Comm qual upgrade potentially happening

-          Teams upgrade + stream

-          Planning for network refresh

-          Environment build outs

o   One M&A coming up has at least 3 environment sets to be put together and then data conveyance/load

o   Middleware related and migration projects

-          Could manage up to 5 at once but it will be balanced in requirement of urgency/attention.
