JOB DETAIL

Position Summary
The Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Department of Energy’s Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) effort. The objective of GRIP is to reduce wildfire risk using innovation and data for utility resiliency. Specifically, the Project Manager will be establishing a process and procedure to manage and track grant funding for the GRIP effort, as well as other grant funding. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and cost of project. This includes coordination and tracking of budget, schedule, scope of grant projects, tracking and finalizing grant submissions, tracking invoices for reimbursement, tracking responses (acceptance rate) with tools such as SAP. The Project Manager will also work cross functionally between multiple groups to establish a standard process for documentation based on best practices.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need. Position location is flexible throughout PG&E's service territory.

Job Responsibilities will include:
• Coordinate project meetings, track critical actions
• Develops and defines project scope and objectives
• Establishes and leads project team with agreed-upon roles and responsibilities
• Obtain commitment on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resource, communication plan
• Obtain management approvals as needed; responsible for project tracking and analysis of project costs, scope and schedule.
• Ensures project documentation is maintained
• Develops, monitors and updates the project cash flow and financial forecasts
• Manages dates, operations, tasks and schedule in current software system
• Communicates project status on a regular basis to all stakeholders
• Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
• Assess project risk and formulate mitigation plan as needed
• Adjust project scope, with approval, as schedule requires
• Manage the integration of vendor tasks and tracks / reviews vendor deliverables as needed
• Support project planning and permitting
• Align on roles and responsibilities with partners and relevant cross-functional PG&E teams
• Maintain ongoing communications cadence with partner organizations
• Identify, analyze, and address project performance issues
• Ensure quality of project delivery, troubleshooting with pilot partners as needed to accomplish project goals
• Track and review project deliverables
• Coordinate partner projects with PG&E operations as needed
• Assess project risk and develop contingency plans; and identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices
• Manage technical implementation plan across projects
• Coordinate and participate in field visits
• Support financial forecasting and budget development
• Support implementation of new project valuation methodologies as needed
• Support development and recruitment of matching funding sources for partnership projects as needed


Qualifications
Minimum:
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in business
• 5 years of experience in Project management
o Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies
o Must have experience with Lean process and lean operating model

§ Lean Certification is a large plus
• Experience in the utility industry, preferably past experience with PG&E
• Project controls/budgeting experience – specifically with SAP
• Proactive, self-starter – someone who is resourceful and can hit the ground running
• Strong organizational skills and documentation skills
• Experience working cross functional with different departments


Desired:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• If no utility experience, should have some sort of experience working with grants/federal money in a regulatory environment (bio/pharma, government, etc)
