JOB DETAIL

This proposed IAM integration project with the City’s physical badging security systems aims to streamline the management of user identities and access in the physical environments, ensuring consistent and secure access to facilities.

The City currently utilizes various physical badging security systems to regulate access to various city facilities and resources. The badging security systems, including Honeywell ProWatch, Quantum, HID, and Lenel - are designed to ensure security and control entry to authorized personnel only. However, these systems currently function as isolated silos. User management and Access Management within these systems rely on manual processes, with email being the primary communication channel. The manual processing is prone to human error resulting in time delays, particularly in cases of employee and contractor termination.

To mitigate this vulnerability and improve the overall security posture, DT is taking on a project to integrate the City’s centralized IAM system with the various physical badging security systems. The City’s IAM is a digital identity management solution (consisting of Identity Governance and Access Management) that provides centralized User Provisioning, Identity Governance, Authentication and Authorization services. User access to applications, and access within the applications are automatically controlled by user roles. As such, the City’s IAM solution offers a holistic approach to identity and access management, combining the benefits of centralized control, automation, and enhanced security across both digital and physical domains.
