JOB DETAIL

We are seeking a skilled and experienced MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The MS SQL DBA will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server databases. The successful candidate will ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Administration:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of SQL Server instances.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of databases through backups, clustering, mirroring, and replication.

2. Performance Tuning and Optimization:

  • Analyze and optimize database performance using SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, and other tools.
  • Implement performance tuning measures, index maintenance, and query optimization.

3. Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
  • Manage user access and permissions to ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations.

4. Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop, implement, and test backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Perform regular database backups and restorations as needed.

5. Database Design and Development:

  • Assist in the design and development of database structures, schemas, and objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers).
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database designs and queries.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate and distribute regular reports on database performance, capacity planning, and other key metrics.

7. Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems and resolve database related issues promptly.
  • Troubleshoot database problems and provide solutions to ensure database availability and reliability.

8. Project Management and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver database related projects on time.
  • Participate in cross functional team meetings and provide technical expertise on database matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA, with a strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
  • Proficiency in TSQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and other database management tools.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) are preferred.
