Contract 

 We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IBM AIX P7 to P9 Upgrade Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of IBM Power Systems and AIX, with hands-on experience in upgrading hardware and software environments from P7 to P9.

Key Responsibilities:

•             Plan and execute the upgrade from IBM Power 7 (P7) to IBM Power 9 (P9) systems running AIX.

•             Conduct thorough assessments of the current AIX environment to identify upgrade requirements and dependencies.

•             Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure minimal downtime and a seamless transition.

•             Ensure compatibility and optimal performance of applications running on AIX post-upgrade.

•             Perform rigorous testing and validation of the AIX systems and applications to ensure functionality and stability after the upgrade.

•             Document the upgrade process in detail, including configuration changes, testing results, and troubleshooting steps.

•             Train and support IT staff and end-users on the upgraded systems and processes.

•             Monitor system performance and resolve any post-upgrade issues promptly.

Qualifications:

1.            Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

2.            Extensive experience with IBM Power Systems, particularly P7 and P9, and IBM AIX.

3.            Proven track record of successfully managing and executing AIX system upgrades.

4.            Strong knowledge of AIX operating system, including configuration, administration, and performance tuning.

5.            Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

6.            Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

7.            Strong communication and documentation skills.

8.            Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Systems Administrator - AIX) are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

•             Experience with virtualization technologies used in IBM Power Systems (e.g., PowerVM).

•             Knowledge of storage and networking concepts related to IBM AIX environments.

•             Familiarity with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions in AIX environments.

•             Understanding of security best practices for AIX systems.
