The SR Project Manager - IT works to ensure clear requirements, scope, budget, and criteria for success are defined for IT projects prior to the execution of an IT project. Creates the appropriate level of documentation such as; project plans, budgets, and reporting to support the effort. Directs, and coordinates activities of IT projects to ensure that goals, and/or objectives of projects are accomplished with prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Works directly with IT Senior Management and appropriate Business Owners on all aspects of project including but not limited to scope, resource, and budget management. Reviews the concept or project proposal with IT Senior Management to validate the scope, determine the time frame, funding limitations, milestones, resource requirements, and criteria for success. Prepares project related reports for Senior Management which thoughtfully communicates the status, potential risks, and any roadblocks on a specific project, as appropriate. Responsible for implementing IT project related Best Practices which are standardized and consistent, along with new tools to ensure projects are successful.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Manage large IT projects across IT departments and the enterprise including applications, infrastructure and network
- Manage project related communication, timelines, scope, and budgets
- Coordinate with the project teams to help flag and resolve issues and roadblocks
- Establish a project schedule, work plan, and/or appropriate level of documentation to support the project based on its complexity
- Partner with project team to outline the milestones and assign tasks with the appropriate dates to ensure the success of the project
- Continue to evaluate, report, and escalate risk associated with the IT projects to determine project completion viability
- Work with the IT Senior Management to improve current project methodologies by ensuring best practices are followed and new tools and processes are implemented to support Standard Methodologies for execution of IT Projects
- Participate as appropriate in the evaluation of IT vendor solution providers
- Ensure that timelines for vendor contract negotiations are clearly communicated to meet the project timeline
- Work with project team to provide documentation, track and resolve project related issues
- Resources - Identifies appropriate technical and business resources needed for the project team
- Outside Services - Identifies the need for outside resources and champions the request and approval processes
- Accountability - Holds project team members accountable for their project responsibilities and deliverables
- Alignment - Keeps stakeholders engaged in the project and aligned on expected outcomes
- Delivery - Ensures projects complete on schedule, within budget and meet technical requirements
- Conflict - Resolves resource, timing or other conflicts between projects
- Meetings - Schedules and leads project meetings
- Change Management - Leads project team in the definition and execution of any necessary change management
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the enterprise
- Ability to manage a number of projects with conflicting timelines
- Broad knowledge of IT and experience working within a matrix IT organization
- Strong leadership and documentation skills
- Experience in managing IT functions applications and related projects/initiatives
- Ability to manage timelines, facilitate execution, and problem solving
- Ability to develop schedules, budgets, and other project related artifacts along with standard repeatable processes related to IT projects
