Software Engineer

Description:

Will be supporting MineStar Fleet Application – enable autonomous trucks/ staff vehicles and use fleet management systems to manage productivity and manage data at worksites

Their Autonomous big products are Command for Hauling and MineStar Fleet applications and customers use them at mine sites to operate autonomous mining trucks. They use fleet management systems to manage productivity to tell them where to go and capture data and is used to monitor progress and truck material movement to ensure it goes to the right place. A lot of the testing takes place in their scalability lab and they run the product in the same way their client would. A lot of simulators are used to make it think it is at an actual mining site. All the application and testing takes a lot of dedicated computing power and their servers are in Chicago – so they administer their own computer cluster for that and have their own dedicated server clusters to self administer the VMs and with that they utilize the applicated called VMWare. This is used to create new ones, create back ups from existing ones etc so they self administer.

They will utilize the VMWare to manage some of their Virtual Machines – simulated work-site environment to test their applications and network infrastructure. 1000 VMs they self-administer. They use Window Server OS and Linux and use the Autonomy onboard software on these vms.  On an isolated VLAN – Segmented network specifically for this team. Will do upgrading to Windows 2022.

Onsite in Tech Center full time – may have some WFH flexibility

The person Aaron currently has in this role they are moving into a new role.

Must Haves:

• Demonstrated experience using VMWare to administer enterprise- scale private
• Experience administering Windows Server OS installations and upgrading servers
• Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linus Operating Systems
• 5+ years experience – needs someone who can come in and hit the ground running
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree – ideally IT or Computer Enginering

Nice to Haves:

• Database administration experience
• Experience developing Python based scrips (way to reduce manual activity)
• Great working knowledge of IP Network Administration, including VLANS and static IP addressing (basic IP networking knowledge will also do)
