What will you do
The Associate Product Manager is responsible for managing the growth of the assigned product segments under Fire Suppression, Special Hazards. Major responsibilities include contributions to the product life cycle from idea inception to new product introduction through obsolescence. This individual will also track product line profitability, oversee cost-out/value-engineering initiatives, gather customer and market insights, and assist with marketing commercialization programs.
Significant global, cross functional interaction and project management leadership is required across the organization with global sales, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and other functions. This position reports to the Director of Product Management, Special Hazards and will be based in India and work from a JCI company office.
How you will do it
Product Market Insight:
- Assesses the market, product trends voice of customer information
- Support development of top-down and bottoms-up market sizing for each business unit working with business unit product leaders
- Prioritizes product benchmarking requirements
- Conducts regular competitive regulatory research and analysis on product line
- Manage business intelligence information across functions to build a clear picture of regional and product segment specific end markets.
Product Strategy:
- Contributes to the growth opportunities of the multi-generational single product line strategy
- Communicates the strategy and value propositions with the organization
- Accountable for measuring and reporting strategy execution
Development:
- Supports the portfolio new product concept via a multi-stage-gate process and by participating in multi-stakeholder development teams
- Assists product managers with writing product requirements including cost, quality and timing targets
- Participates in the creation of business cases for new products / enhancements
Deployment
- Supports the development of the Product Marketing Plan through the definition of product, specifications and claims, value propositions, and target customer segments
- Manage details of pricing tactics and communicate to the appropriate stakeholders
- Assist in the creation of accurate product forecasts
- Disseminate business intelligence in an effective manner to stakeholders across the organization including through the production of reports, presentations, and other collaterals
Lifecycle Management:
- Offers insight for cost-out/value-engineering initiatives, approvals, re-certifications and other product needs with cross-functional players
- Leads analysis of product line profitability and SKU rationalization activities
- Understands product portfolio at a global / regional level (SKUs, pricing, profitability, sales by customer / channel, quality, warranty)
- Analyze sales trends per market and communicate with sales and end customers on market and product updates
- Reports out on business health monthly to senior management through formal and informal presentations.
Qualifications needed

Required:
- Four (4) year degree in business, analytical, sales, or an engineering field
- 3+ years business experience, preferably in product development with a phased-gate process
- Skilled in data analysis and being efficient in developing data driven insights and communications for leadership
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving ability: rigorous and resourceful with a pragmatic approach - applying 80-20 rule and coming up with directionally sound logic to navigate through limited data situations
- Experience working in a matrix business structure and working collaboratively with multiple functions on joint programs
- Excellent written verbal English communication skills
- Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint is mandatory. Experience with Power BI and analytical tools a bonus
Preferred:
- Previous experience within a fire protection, construction, or infrastructure related industry.
- Strong financial acumen
