The primary responsibility of the Solutions Designer is tocomplete sales estimates for the sales team including project take-offs,specification interpretation, scope of work creation, risk analysis, buildingcode compliance, and value engineering ideas. Final deliverables include the final cost estimate and proposal. The SolutionsDesigner allows the sales executive to increase customer prospecting, increase customerengagement and focus on bidding strategy.

  • Lead,coordinate and assume responsibility for the timely generation of a costestimate and proposal. Activitiesinclude:
  • Perform take off:quantify equipment device counts from bid documents
  • Interpret sequence ofoperations for point count, material and required control devices
  • Interpretspecifications for all required labor and all code related requirements
  • Create system networkriser diagram
  • Develop Bill ofMaterial (BOM) and Scope of Work (SOW)
  • Provide building coderequired alternate designs, Value Engineering Solutions and Fire AlarmEquipment selection.
  • Develop subcontractortechnical bid package and coordinate activity and strategy with Procurementteam and Sales Executive
  • Obtain quotes fromoutside vendors for ancillary products and services
  • Develop final customerProposal
  • Communicate andcollaborate with a remote sales and operations team located in another timezone
  • Learn and use companydesign, bid, and quote tools
  • Work with the salesteam to answer technical and pricing questions
  • Maintaincomplete documentation for all work performed to generate estimate and assistin turnover process when estimate/proposal becomes an order
  • Participatein Cost Review and Technical Handover meetings with operations team

  • Diplomaor 1-3 years Fire Life Safety systems experience and knowledge
  • PreferNICET I Certification, attain within 6 months of hire date
  • Preferexperience using an Estimating/Quoting system
  • Ableto read and interpret building plans and specifications
  • Preferexperience designing a basic Fire Life Safety System
  • Preferknowledge of Fire Alarm and Building codes and regulations
  • Knowledgeof building construction process
  • Fluentin English language
  • StrongKnowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ableto interpret customer requirements, identify needs and resolve issues in apositive manner.
  • Mustbe flexible to work during U.S. working hours (at least for a portion of theworkday)
  • Possibleopportunities for overtime work
