Purpose of the Role

The MS SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of MS SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. He will be responsible for maintaining of the SQL Server, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams, support enterprise application suite of program management tools.

Job & Responsibilities

Plan, support and maintain MS SQL Server and allied systems

Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools

To Ensure data is properly backed up as per Backup Policy and able to restore and knowledge on recovery models

Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server

Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory

Co-ordination with External Vendors (3rd Party) to ensure that Delivery happens withing timeframe, Budget and Quality

To Effectively troubleshoot and solve user issue within the stipulated time frame

Ensure 100% uptime of the server and other applications

Ensure standards and procedures are followed and work with the technical teams in a consistent manner

To Ensure Organisation Server Licenses usage are not exceeded and within the available Licenses procured. Escalate any deviations and ensure compliance

Test IT applications program in Structured SDLC covering all Business Scenario test cases

Apply various Server and application-level patches, updates, upgrades and ensure they remain latest
