JOB DETAIL

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the management and maintenance of production databases at customer sites. The Sr. Database administer works with Solution architect to build databases to satisfy product requirements. He/She will provide guidance in organizing, securing, and automating existing product development workflows and must be proficient with agile development processes and best practices.

Responsibilities

Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialised role
Design and implement database in accordance to end users’ information needs and views
Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
Building the software for testing and product release, and ability to resolve build related issues

Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

BE/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in the disciplines of CSE/ECE/ EEE or MCA degree or equivalent experience.
At least 5 to 9 years in database administration using several of the skills and technologies mentioned below
Specific Knowledge and Skills

Hands on experience in administering database systems running on Microsoft SQL Server 2017, 2019, PostgreSQL and Time series Databases.
Expertise in managing high availability solutions (windows clustering, database mirroring and Always On) and Disaster recovery technologies preferably Always ON.
Expertise in Database maintenance activities including backup, restore and reindexing for MS SQL and PostgreSQL.
Hands on experience with Cloud Deployments preferably AWS Azure.
Expertise with SQL Server in IaaS, PaaS SaaS deployment Model.
Hands-on experience with Database Design, Modelling, T-SQL Programming.
Expertise in database MS-SQL and PostgreSQL Server installation, upgrade, patching, Replication, Always ON.
Expertise in troubleshooting database service failures and performance issues (Blocking, deadlocks, high resource usage).
Expertise in troubleshooting performance bottleneck and Query tuning
Sound understanding of system configuration parameters.
Expertise to SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and other relevant database technologies.
Understanding of ITIL processes (preferably ITIL foundation certified) Advanced SQL administration, Clustering, log shipping, replication, Performance tuning, TSQL, Database Mirroring, Good knowledge in SSIS, knowledge about SSAS and SSRS.
Windows related basic knowledge like DHCP, WINS, DNS, Cross site DR, basic knowledge about EMC/SAN disk.
Ability to prepare high level and detailed design for SQL Database infrastructure solutions; support the same with relevant documentation.
Ability to write and review Transact SQL.
Hands-on experience on both windows and Linux OS.
