Summary: The systems administrator works with a team to monitor stability and performance of existing systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with developers, analysts and other system administrators to install new software, upgrade existing software and configure new and existing systems.
- Applies patches and performs system maintenance.
- Proactively monitors system integrity to discover, diagnose, troubleshoot and facilitate.
- Works collectively with the entire operations team to monitor stability and performance to ensure 24 7 availability of critical services.
- Participates in on call rotation
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Extensive understanding and experience with Linux operating systems.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work well with internal and external customers with varying degrees of technical experience.
- Self, motivated, independent learner who can work well within a team.
- Minimum of two years experience related to Linux systems administration.
Preffered Skills And/Or Education:
- Bachelor s degree preferred.
- Experience with SQL databases, especially MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
- Proficient in hardware installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Nagios monitoring system.
- Knowledge of networking infrastructure, including switches, wireless networking, and routing.
- Experience in multiple environments, including Linux, Windows 2000/XP, and Mac OS X.
