Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, migrate, and integrate customer systems with AWS
- Create and maintain custom scripts and automations to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimization as directed/requested
- Provide remote support for Syntax AWS Managed Services clients via all channels (Help Desk, phone, email), adhering to SLA guidelines and providing thorough and timely communication
- Interact with Technical and Application Consultants and customer staff to support, scale, and maintain customer cloud-hosted infrastructure, according to best practices and customer requirements
- Assist with root cause and failure analysis to resolve systems problems
- Effectively lead detailed technical discussions and perform analysis/design to ensure customer needs are met.
Desired Candidate Profile
- 2-5 years experience in an AWS system administrator role
- A solid mix of 5+ years of Windows/Linux system administration, storage, and network experience, along with creativity and superb communication abilities, to provide consultative support to clients.
- Able to prioritize various client deadlines, work on multiple tasks throughout the work week, and coordinate with other team members to serve customers effectively.
- Self-driven and able to work independently with minimal direction, as well as in collaboration with team members, and provide direction/guidance to junior staff.
- Experience with the following technologies/skills are required:
- English language fluency
- AWS experience, including administration of systems via AWS console, as well as experience with a variety of AWS products and services
- Knowledge of servers, networks, storage, client-server systems, and firewalls
- Advanced working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems system architecture and design, as well as experience with supporting and troubleshooting stability and performance issues
- Knowledgeable in core network services including DHCP, DNS, IP routing, VLANs, layer 2/3 routing, and load balancing
- Knowledge and experience configurating routers and switches
- Knowledge and experience configurating point-to-point VPN and/or DMVPN
- Experience reading, writing, or modifying PowerShell and Bash scripts
- Experience reading, writing, or modifying Python code
- Experience using git
- In addition to the specific skills listed above, experience with any of the following items would be a plus:
- Automation experience (Puppet, Chef, Salt, or Ansible)
- Working knowledge of software-defined lifecycles, product packaging, and deployments
- SQL or Oracle database administration (Backup, Restore, Tuning, Monitoring, Management)
- ITIL/PCI/SOX/SOC I/SOC II compliance experience/training
- Oracle JD Edwards, EBS, or SAP experience
- Information & system security including cloud access controls and monitoring
- Server Optimization and Hardening, Vulnerability Research and Remediation
- Solid understanding of and deep experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare/hyper-V)
- Experience with storage configuration and management
- Must possess the following AWS certifications:
- At least 1 from: AWS Associate Solutions Architect, DevOps, or SysOps
