The Role:
The Database Engineer will assist in Morningstars Production Databases Development. This individual will help design/develop new databases objects as well manage existing databases as per the Morningstar’s product team requirement. This individual will help in standardize Database development including the create/modify DB objects, practices, procedures, and technologies. This position is based in our Mumbai location.
Responsibilities:
- Write stored procedures, views, functions, triggers and SQL queries for requirements
- Professional experience in Database development, Data modelling and ETL Design
- Ability to design and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Use tools like SQL profiler for database tuning, should be able to generate traces, execution plans, identify performance bottleneck, deadlocks/contention and resolve them.
- Create and manage constraints and indexes.
- Develop and modify SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
- Support software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML.
- Manage production, QA, Stage and development database environments.
- Learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow, criticality and dependencies.
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with all the stakeholders (internal teams and clients).
Requirements:
- Bachelors of Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- 3+ years of total work experience in IT Industry.
- Experienced in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
- Good to have knowledge of any backend development technology Java or Python or Node JS.
- Experienced in write complex SQL Queries, Performance Enhancement.
- Experienced in SQL Queries Optimization and follow best practices.
- Data Modelling for both OLAP and OLTP systems.
- Sound knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database architecture and SQL/T-SQL.
- Able to organize work efficiently and work well under stress, changing priorities, and time constraints
- Knowledge of other databases like MySQL, No SQL databases and In-memory databases and Microsoft certification will be an advantage.
