JOB DETAIL

As the Engineering IT System Administrator, you are responsible for configuring, deploying, and managing infrastructure solutions to improve productivity for developers within CPL. You will work with our internal clients, Data Security, and Identity & Access Management, to determine and implement efficiencies within R&D Infrastructure; build, monitor, and maintain server and network systems; & collaborate with engineering and local IT groups to assess pain points and areas of improvement and ensure IT infrastructure issues affecting engineering are resolved. As the System Administrator, you understand the system lifecycle are analytical with strong problem-solving and conflict resolutions skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues while providing dedicated support and services to engineering

Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility

Infrastructure Management; Server Patching & Application Maintenance -

  • Deploy and maintain inventory management solutions; Perform automatic scanning of engineering environments and ensure complete inventory of systems is up-to-date
  • Maintain documentation of systems and infrastructure
  • Review Monthly Vulnerability Scan reports
  • Working with System owners, Perform Operating System or application updates to ensure no failures in critical servers and to reduce overall risk related to Vulnerabilities
  • Report monthly the status of Vulnerability risk levels, and initiate plans for future-looking improvements through automation; Knowledge of automated patching processes required
  • Review office infrastructure supporting developers, report on issues, and collaborate with local IT on improvements

Perform analysis of infrastructure and determine efficiencies -

  • Keep systems operating efficiently by performing any necessary upgrades and repairs
  • Work extensively with engineering teams to determine pain points related to infrastructure and plan and deploy improvements.
  • Field infrastructure-related requests coming from engineering and ensure they are addressed accurately and in a timely fashion.

Support BU/BL Information Security Management System and Engineering ENV Security program

  • Review segregation of networks and determine if the current state supports the requirements of Internal Information Systems Security Policies.
  • Support BCP/DR Activities related to engineering environments.
  • Provide support for certification initiatives, ISO 27001, SOC, Common Criteria, etc.
  • Validate Non-Standard Security and Network Flow Change requests for engineering business-managed networks and negotiates approvals.
  • Assist with the deployment of shared IT Security services: Vulnerability Scanning and Management, Critical Security patch solutions, AV Deployment, Firewall management

After hours and On-call support

  • After hours support is a requirement for supporting CPL Cloud Services Teams and Critical Engineering infrastructure as needed

Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language

  • Infrastructure Management & Maintenance
    • Hands-on experience with infrastructure maintenance primarily related to OS and Application patch management
    • Experience with Microsoft/Linux Patch Automation Tools, i.e., WSUS/Spacewalk/Foreman
    • Experience with Vulnerability Management concepts
    • Experience with Asset Inventory Management
    • Understanding of technologies such as load balancers, proxy servers, and packet shapers
    • Experience managing network infrastructure, i.e., switches, firewalls, and comfortable with high-level network design concepts.
    • Experience working with Hypervisors, specifically VMWare and HyperV
    • Experience working with NAS and SAN storage solutions and Linux/Windows-based storage systems.
  • Cloud
    • Working knowledge of Public Cloud Services, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Security
    • Conscious of security concerns
    • Adhere to security best practices from design to implementation and operations
  • Interaction & Communication
    • Good social interaction with the local and remote teams
    • Ability to work with geographically distributed teams
    • Excellent communication skills; Ability to work effectively within a large group of stakeholders
    • Strong problem-solving skillset.
  • Education and Equivalent Experience
    • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, or another related field of study in Information Technology; or equivalent years of experience.
    • 5 - 10+ years of experience in Information Technology
    • 3 - 5+ years of experience working with Windows and Linux

  • Certifications
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
    • Linux Certified Professional
  • Strong IT Background focused on IT infrastructure design, deployment, and administration
  • Understand computer protection programs and software such as anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall
  • Extensive knowledge of OS and Application Patch Management mechanisms, i.e., WSUS, SCCM, Spacewalk, Foreman, GFI LanGuard
  • Datacenter and operations experience is recommended
  • Experience working with and in support of Engineering Environments
  • Experience with SAFe AGILE is recommended
  • Experience with third Party Audit and Compliance Activities, i.e., ISO 27001
