Job Description

As a Database Base Specialist, you will be expected to Coordinate and manage database activities to support application development projects. Work with programmers, QA team and security personnel to execute database projects according to customer requirements.

Provide functional and technical support to ensure performance, operation, and stability of database systems, respond to database related queries and issues in a timely fashion, monitor database activities on daily basis to ensure the reliability and security of databases. Prepare database reports for managers as needed. Monitor database performance, implement changes and check on new patches and versions when required

Primary Skills

NOSQL MongoDB

• Knowledge of Mongo Atlas
• Implement appropriate indexes for performance improvement.
• Database Health checks to be created and published to monitoring systems.

a. Identify slow queries.

b. Replication lags

c. Node Failures

d. Index Usage patterns

e. CPU Usage

f. Memory Usage

g. Locks

h. No of connections

i. And any other params which can be added as part of database health checks.

• Maintenance During release / outage etc.
• Implementing best practices for health checks.
• Work closely with App team to understand what changes are coming in a build / patch / hotfix, do an impact analysis, finetune the queries if any.
• Act as Application DB as well. Get involved during the design.

Redshift

• Should understand nuances of moving data from RDBMS sources to Columnar DB (Redshift)
• Hands on experience in Data Warehouse (DW)
• Should have experience in working with S3 and Redshift.
• Resizing Amazon RedShift Cluster
• Troubleshooting
• Knowledge on Sort keys/Distribution keys

AWS RDS knowledge

Good to have

-MYSQL or PostgreSQL experience will be an additional advantage.

-Comfortable working with AWS/EC2/RDS

-Knowledge of Kafka

Data warehouse knowledge

• Should understand nuances of moving data from RDBMS sources to Columnar DB (Preferred Redshift, but any another Data warehouse knowledge/experience can be considered)
• Should have experience in working with Data Warehouse.
• Troubleshooting
• Knowledge on Sort keys/Distribution keys
