Roles and Responsibilities

We are hiring a Linux administrator with strong LAMP, Postgres, python, and shell scripting skills. The engineer will be responsible for developing various tools and web applications for automation and improvement and will work closely with the core Unix team to develop these tools. Most tools and web applications will connect to the existing Unix systems and the engineer is required to have a good understanding of the following systems and protocols: DNS, AAA, TACACS, SNMP, unix mail, security. The engineer is expected to work on various Xnix platforms such as debian, ubuntu, FreeBSD, Gentoo and CentOS for collecting information though the application stack can be based on any xnix platform.

This engineer will be responsible for delivering high quality web applications to our customers, automating manual processes, integrating various systems using APIs or using middleware that may be developed internally.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
• Architect and deploy web applications and systems that meet the stringent performance and availability requirements of a ‘self-serve’ ecosystem.
• Provide a seamless application experience to the end-users and clients. Gather requirements for the project effectively and execute them based on end-user requirements
• Ability to learn and understand complex Xnix services and systems. The individual will be trained on different systems and will have to be a team-player to collaborate and understand vast Unix infrastructure.
• Should be highly motivated, self-driven and be able to contribute individually in addition to executing and delivering projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Establish and manage communication channels within and among departments—being the liaison to provide customer feedback to the Senior Management Team.
 

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications (Key Skills, Education and Experience):
• 4+ year’s strong hands-on experience on Linux, PHP, python, shell-scripting, mySQL and PostgreSQL, postfix, courier, bind
• Strong experience with Linux operating systems and their commands / tools.
• Excellent understanding of how DNS, web, mail, databases, authentication work.
• Experience in working with Java, Web Services, SOA.
• Excellent understanding of Databases, particularly PostgreSQL triggers, cursors, complex joins etc.
• Have a passion for learning and using new technologies.
• Must be having good team spirit.
